I had a fun full-day workshop teaching a lovely chap called Sam on the weekend. Sam got in touch recently, interested in getting some tuition to help him with his street photography. His main goal was to build his confidence in getting closer to people and develop his composition. I was more than happy to oblige.

We started the day at The Photographers Gallery cafe for a more in-depth pre-walk chat on Sam's goals, some theory and techniques to help him master his fear of shooting strangers at close range. We then set out on a photo walk around the streets of central London, guiding him along the way.

It was a very productive day, especially seeing Sam's confidence increase in leaps & bounds. To watch him get closer and closer to his subjects, without fear or hesitation through the advice and techniques I taught him was very rewarding indeed! Read Sam's review below...

Linda is a great teacher, an inspiring photographer and great fun to spend time wandering London with. I was lucky enough to have a full day’s tuition with her. She was brilliant at listening to the areas that I find difficult and structured her tuition and the day to overcoming these. My main issue was a fear of being seen, and specifically of getting close to / in front of subjects as I photographed them. She shared some really useful strategies to overcome these, and was great at giving me the support I needed to implement them on the street. I finished the day feeling that I had grown as a photographer, feeling more confident and spotting opportunities for photos that would previously have passed me by.

Check out Sam's Flickr page for more of his great street photography.
