When Sociology Influences Street Photography

I received this interesting email in my inbox the other day from Melanie, a lady who had visited my website and was interested in buying some prints of mine.

It was a unique email in that she is a professional sociologist who was curious about my images. I have copied her email and my response below…

“Linda, your pictures are simply wonderful, and I am definitely going to buy some prints. However, I was wondering about the background stories to the photographs, as I would love to know the context of your shoots. There are so many that I think are absolutely evocative about time, place and person – that sounds rather trite, but as a sociologist, I’m very interested in what caught your eye and why, even if you don’t personally know your subjects story – I understand that the picture denotes the story, just interested in whether there was any interaction?”
